Life is good but can be tough sometimes
The last couple of weeks seem to have been tragic for us.
My in-laws had to have their good puppy dog Rascal put to sleep. He was a very sweet and well behaved long haired dachshund. He was a perfect companion for them and went everywhere they went. While he lived a long happy life Bill & Elaine are still grieved by their loss. My daughter Emily and her husband had to put their German shepherd iTalia to sleep also due to distemper. While she was sick from the moment they purchased her they grew attached during the month or two they nursed her along hoping she would come through it. She was their first pet together so it made it even harder for them.
One of Karen's best friends mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer of the liver. It is inoperable and untreatable so now they are trying to help her be as comfortable as possible so that her quality of life remaining will be as good as possible. She was already a cancer survivor as is Karen's friend so it seems so close and personal. A friend of mine from my Saturday morning men's Bible study just lost his mother after an illness. While they did see it coming it still was sad and difficult none the less. The only redemption was that He was able to lead her to Christ literally a couple days before her passing. Another young woman we know from our Tuesday Prayer group went to the doctor less than two months ago for back pain. The doctors found that a cancerous tumor had actually damaged her spine. As they went further in their diagnosis they found cancer had spread literally throughout her entire body and short of a Red Sea miracle it doesn't look good for the her survival. She is only 34 years old and is a sweet, precious and Godly woman. All of us who know her are devastated by this situation.
Times like this come periodically and can be disheartening. We are granted such a short time here. I am reminded of how precious and fragile life is. I need to be more gracious to everyone I come in contact with, when I am touched in some way with life's' beauty and wonderment I need to share it with people, I need to tell those I know how much they mean to me and I need to do what I can right now because there may not be tomorrow!
I am not trying to spread doom and gloom on you. I am trying to encourage us to celebrate life every minute. Savor its flavors, feel its warmth and coldness, embrace its happiness, listen to its sounds, learn its secrets, receive what it gives and give what you have back to it.
Thank you again for letting me take the wheel for a moment.....
Robert
